Black Mountain - [2010] Wilderness Heart

Eu já gostava do trabalho do Black Mountain mas o novo disco me fez virar fã da banda de uma vez. Mais objetivo, sem muito lenga-lenga como nos anteriores e principalmente o trabalho dos vocais são as novidades que mais me agradaram nesse disco. Os vocais divididos entre o Stephen McBean e a Amber Webber ficaram muito legais e ela realmente brilha nesse disco. "The Hair Song", "Rollercoaster" e "Wilderness Heart" são maravilhosas e "Let Spirits Ride" poderia estar no Mob Rules do Sabbath numa boa. Enfim, mais uma banda nova que mandando bem, mostrando que ao contrário do que a velharada pensa, o rock atual esta tão vivo quanto sempre esteve.

I really dig the previous Black Mountain works but their most recent album is amazing and it is now my favorite in their yet small discography. Much more straight forward than In The Future, this one sounds more cohesive and less prog and very focused in the vocal duties by Stephen McBean and Amber Webber. And Amber is the shining point in Wilderness Heart, singing lead in half of the songs, always beautifuly and very strong and emotive. "The Hair Song", "Rollercoaster" and "Wilderness Heart" are great and "Let Spirits Ride" sounds like a Mob Rules-era Sabbath song. Well, it's great to see "new" bands doing such a wonderful work like Black Mountain. Hope they stay together for a long time.

Impressão minha ou o baterista do Danko Jones tá tocando demais nesse disco? Zezuis! Não que seja algo complexo, mas sei lá, ele faz o simples de um jeito muito foda. E o Danko tá cantando como nunca. Ah, só eu que notei ou "City Streets" tem um riff chupinhado de "Love Her All I Can" do Kiss??? E pra quem não sabe, John Garcia abençoou esse disco cantando em "Forest For The Trees" (que tem também uma participação do vocalista do Goatsnake que eu não me lembro o nome agora, mas que tem voz de pato). Well, am I crazy or Danko Jones' drummer is playing more than ever in this album? Holy Jesus! Not that is thaaat something, but, I don't know, but everything that is just simple he plays in a very cool way. And Danko is singing better than ever! And check the riff of "City Streets". It doesn't reminds you the main riff of "Love Her All I Can" from Kiss??? And one more thing, John Garcia blessed this album singing in Forest For The Trees (that has another guest, Goatsnake vocal, which I don't remember the name :P). Esse é o único disco do Neil que ainda não ganhou uma versão em cd. Então, se você tiver o LP, proteja-o com sua vida, pois provavelmente ele vai valer uma fortuna se a situação continuar a mesma. Na turnê de 73, Neil Young resolveu tocar algumas inéditas e tal. Gravou todas elas e lançou nesse disco, o que é bem legal pois só existem versões dessas músicas ao vivo. E é ao vivo que Neil Young mostra por que ele é o cara mais legal do rock. Vida longa ao Tio Neil! Top 3: "Time Fades Away", "Don't Be Denied", "Last Dance". Danko Jones - [2003] Born A Lion

Danko Jones é um dos caras mais engraçados do rock. As expressões dele nos clipes são muito boas. Mas não é só isso, o som também é muito legal. Rock N' Roll na concepção clássica do termo, barulhento, divertido, ritmado e bem grudento. Fica na cabeça um tempão. Refrões, linhas vocais e de baixo pegajosos e guitarra econômica , sem aquele exagero de solos. Do tipo que você escuta de uma vez só inteiro. Dá uma ouvida aí! Danko Jones is one of the funniest guys in rock. His facial expressions in his videoclips are very good. But it's not only this, the sound is very cool to! Rock N' Roll with a classic vein combinated with a modern appeal. Noisy, dirty, catchy and dancin. Melissa Auf Der Maur - [2002] Hand Of Doom - Black Sabbath Tribute

Melissa Auf Der Maur juntou uns amigos quando estava desemprega e gravaram esse show tributo ao Black Sabbath. Aqui, ela faz todos os vocais do Ozzy, com exceção de "The Mob Rules", musica que originalmente tinha o Dio no vocal e nessa versão é cantada pelo Nick Olivieri (?!). Bem tocado, mas a voz dela deixa a desejar. Vale mais pela capa, hohoho. Top 3: "Hand Of Doom" , "Mob Rules", "Black Sabbath". Pra quem gosta de: Black Sabbath!

Melissa Auf Der Maur called some friends to do a Sabbath live tribute in 2002. In this show, she does all the Ozzy vocals, while Nick Olivieri does the only song from Dio era, "The Mob Rules". Her voice doesn't really matches with the sound, but is a good listen. The cover is the best in this record, =P. Top 3: "Hand Of Doom" , "Mob Rules", "Black Sabbath". Buffalo Springfield - [1967] Buffalo Springfield Again

Acho que o Buffalo Springfield é um pouco esquecido pelo mundo do rock. Esse segundo disco deles é, na minha opinião, um dos melhores dos anos 60. Neil Young começava a colocar as manguinhas de fora e o Stephen Stills se consolidava como um grande compositor. Apesar do disco ser muito bom, ele ja mostrava o fim dos tempos pra banda, que viria um ano depois com o Last Time Around. Discasso! Top 3: "Mr. Soul" , "Hung Upside Down" , "Sad Memory". Pra quem gosta de: The Band, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, The Hollies e Big Star.

I think Buffalo Springfield deserves more recognizement from Rock N' Roll world Their second record is easily, in my humble opinion, one of the best from 60's. Here, Neil Young starts to show his talent and Stephen Stills consolidate his song writing. But this record was the beginning of the end, wich comes in Last Time Around one year after. Classic. Top 3: "Mr. Soul" , "Hung Upside Down" , "Sad Memory". For Those Who Likes: The Band, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, The Hollies and Big Star.

Após tocar em bandas como Hole e Smashing Pumpkins, a senhorita Melissa Auf Der Maur decidiu gravar um disco solo contando com a ajuda de seus amiguinhos Josh Homme e Chris Goss. O resultado é esse disco, que teve single e video com boa circulação pela mídia. De primeira eu achei bem sem graça, principalmente a voz dela. Deixei o disco esquecido no meu pc, mas peguei pra ouvir de novo e cada vez mais gosto do som. Num chega a ser um clássico, mas é um bom disco de rock. Tem umas levadas legais entre a guitarra e o baixo, ficou bem coeso. Top 3: "Follow The Waves" , "Taste You", "Skin Receiver". Pra quem gosta de: Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, Queens Of The Stone Age e Bush.
