Slo Burn - [1996] Amusing The Amazing

Mais um trabalho do Sr. Garcia. Slo Burn foi a primeira banda pós-Kyuss do vocalista mas só durou um ep, este "Amusing The Amazing". Ainda tinha muito de Kyuss no som, mas já começava a mostrar um som mais direto similar ao do Unida e do Hermano. Enfim, outro ótimo disco de John Garcia, como de costume. Top 3: "The Prizefighter", "Pilot The Dune" e "Positiva". Pra quem gosta de: Kyuss, Hermano, Unida, Monster Magnet e Truckfighters.

Another good work by Mr. Garcia, Slo Burn was his first band after Kyuss but they only released this EP. It's has a lot o Kyuss in their sounding, but Garcia starts to approach a more straight ahead sound like he did with Unida and Hermano. Anyway, another awesome job by John Garcia, as usual. Top 3: "The Prizefighter", "Pilot The Dune" and "Positiva". For those who likes: Kyuss, Hermano, Unida, Monster Magnet and Truckfighters.

Hermano - [2002] ...Only A Suggestion

Esse primeiro disco do Hermano é com certeza o melhor deles. Acho que eu já disse um milhão de vezes aqui que o John Garcia é o cara e que todos os projetos dele são ótimos. Pra ouvir muito, muito alto. Top 3: "The Bottle", "5 to 5" e Nick's Yea". Pra quem gosta de: Unida, Slo Burn, Wolfmother, Solarized e Kyuss.

Hermano's first record is their best, for sure. It is way above the other two. Well, I think that i've just expressed my admiration to all of the John Garcia's works, so is not necessary to do this again. Listen as loud as you can. Top 3: "The Bottle", "5 to 5" and Nick's Yea". Kyuss - [1994] Welcome To Sky Valley

Esse é o clássico dos clássicos do Stoner Rock. Todo mundo esperava por esse disco antes de ele sair e todo mundo copiou depois. Referência de 11 em 10 bandas do tal Stoner Rock. Todas as faixas são perfeitas e, podem jogar as pedras, mas pra mim o verdadeiro baixista do Kyuss é o Scott Reeder e não o Nick Olivieri. Fácil fácil um dos meus 10 discos preferidos de todos os tempos. Ou não! Top 3: "Supa Scoop and Mighty Scoop", "100°" e "Conan Troutman". Pra quem gosta de: Queens Of The Stone Age, Nebula, Beaver, Monster Magnet e Masters Of Reality.

This is the classic of all classics! Stoner Rock never was the same after this record was released in 1994. Maybe one of the most copied albums of all time. Every single track is perfect. And I know that much of the fans think that Nick Olivieri is the greatest bassist that ever played for Kyuss, but for me, Scott Reeder is the real one. Anyway, this album is one of my all time favorite. Listen VERY VERY VERY LOUD! Top 3: "Supa Scoop and Mighty Scoop", "100°" and "Conan Troutman". For those who likes: Queens Of The Stone Age, Nebula, Beaver, Monster Magnet and Masters Of Reality.

Danko Jones - [2008] Never Too Loud

Impressão minha ou o baterista do Danko Jones tá tocando demais nesse disco? Zezuis! Não que seja algo complexo, mas sei lá, ele faz o simples de um jeito muito foda. E o Danko tá cantando como nunca. Ah, só eu que notei ou "City Streets" tem um riff chupinhado de "Love Her All I Can" do Kiss??? E pra quem não sabe, John Garcia abençoou esse disco cantando em "Forest For The Trees" (que tem também uma participação do vocalista do Goatsnake que eu não me lembro o nome agora, mas que tem voz de pato). Danko num falha! Top 3: "Code Of The Road", "Still In High School" , "Forest For The Trees". Pra quem gosta de: AC/DC, Forgotten Boys, Unida, Thin Lizzy, The Datsuns.

Well, am I crazy or Danko Jones' drummer is playing more than ever in this album? Holy Jesus! Not that is thaaat something, but, I don't know, but everything that is just simple he plays in a very cool way. And Danko is singing better than ever! And check the riff of "City Streets". It doesn't reminds you the main riff of "Love Her All I Can" from Kiss??? And one more thing, John Garcia blessed this album singing in Forest For The Trees (that has another guest, Goatsnake vocal, which I don't remember the name :P). Well, you know, Danko never fails.Top 3: "Code Of The Road", "Still In High School" , "Forest For The Trees". For those who likes: AC/DC, Forgotten Boys, Unida, Thin Lizzy, The Datsuns.

Hermano - [2005] Dare I Say...

Tudo que o John Garcia faz é legal, impressionante. De bandas a participações, ele acerta em tudo. Esse mês ele deve lançar seu primeiro disco solo. To aguardando ansiosamente. Enquanto isso, ficamos com o Hermano, banda que começou como projeto paralelo ao Unida mas acabou virando titular da coisa toda. Rock N'Roll pé em baixo e bem raivoso. Bom pra dirigir (pelo menos é o que dizem, eu num tenho carteira de motorista =P). A banda ainda conta com Steve Earle, ex-Afghan Whigs na bateria. Sei lá por que, algumas musicas me lembram a carreira solo do Jerry Cantrell. Top 3: "Life" , "Brother Bjork" , "Murder One". Pra quem gosta de: Unida, Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age, Fu Manchu e Jerry Cantrell.

Before this, let's enjoy Hermano, a project that became a main band for Garcia in 2005 when they released this record. Unida / Dozer - [1999] The Best Of Wayne-Gro / Coming Down The Moutain

Lançado em 1999, esse split é dividido entre o Unida, banda que John Garcia (Ex-Kyuss) formou após acabar precocemente com o Slo-Burn, e pelo Dozer, banda vinda lá da Suécia. O som é legal, mas o Unida deixa um pouco a desejar se comparado com o Kyuss ou o Slo-Burn. O Dozer também num mostra nada além de um stoner rock um pouco óbvio até. Mas é discografia básica para os amantes do genero. Top Unida: "Flower Girl". Top Dozer: "Headed For The Sun". Pra quem gosta de: Kyuss, Slo-Burn, Nebula, Fu Manchu e Beaver.

Release in 1999, this split is shared between Unida, band of John Garcia (Ex-Kyuss and Slo-Burn) and Dozer, band from Sweeden. The songs are ok, but in the case of Unida, is a little disapointing if you compare these songs with work of John Garcia in his previous bands. Dozer sound ok too, but a little obvious. But it`s still a classic of the genre. "Flower Girl". Top Dozer: "Headed For The Sun". For those who likes: Kyuss, Slo-Burn, Nebula, Fu Manchu and Beaver.

Kyuss - [1993] Blues For The Red Sun

Os papas do stoner rock! Acho que esse é o principal disco do genero. O Chris Goss (Deus) que produziu. Influenciou uma porrada de gente que veio depois e tals. Incrivel como tudo que o Josh Homme faz é ao mesmo tempo complexo e pop. Pesadão mas com melodias bem acessiveis. Tem um monte de instrumentais legais tipo Apothecaries' Weight que é uma jam bem louca e tals e Capsized que é acustica e bem curtinha. Fora que a sequência Thumb e Green Machine é absurda de boa! Discão! Meu Top 3: "Thumb"; "Green Machine" ; "Allen's Wrench". Pra quem gosta de: Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Monster Magnet, Masters Of Reality, Black Sabbath e stoner rock!!!

The godfather`s of stoner rock! This record defines the genre. Chris Goss was the man in the production of this record, wich still influences a lot of bands in the world of stoner rock. Josh Homme can make anything pop and complex at the same time. Loud and heavy but melodic. With a couple of cool instrumentals like Apothecaries' Weight and Capsized, an a short and acoustic song. The start with Thumb and Green Machine is a classic. Fantastic Record!!! Top 3: "Thumb"; "Green Machine" ; "Allen's Wrench". For those who likes: Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Monster Magnet, Masters Of Reality, Black Sabbath and stoner rock!!!
