Bom, primeiro vou agradecer os comentários do Haroldo. Cara, você é sempre muito bem e que bom que você gostou do blog! Qualquer pedido, sugestão e reclamação sua é bem vinda. Enfim... Brad é um projeto paralelo do Stone Gossard do Pearl Jam. Como eu num sou muito chegado a ficar dando dados biograficos (usem a wikipedia!) vamos falar da musica. Muito boa por sinal e sei lá por que "Buttercup" me lembra Legião Urbana. Acho que "Vento no Litoral" pra ser mais específico. Num sei se o som vai agradar quem gosta de Pearl Jam, principalmente por causa da proeminência dos teclados sobre as guitarras, mas eu acho uma banda bem legal, mais próxima do que o Jeff Buckley fazia talvez. Aliás, o que aconteceu com o PJ hein?! Que coisa horrivel esses dois ultimos discos. Enfim, Top 3: "Buttercup" , "Good News" e "Down". Brad is a side project by Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam fame. Great band a sometimes they reminds me Legião Urbana (one of the greatest brazilian bands of all time), specially "Buttercup". Guitars aren't all over the place here. Keyboards are the mains instrument, leading the most of the tracks, which maybe is disliking thing to Pearl Jam fans. Anyway, what's happening to Pearl Jam these days? Geezz, their last two records are something to feel ashamed. Anyway, enjoy this real gem from the 90's. Top 3: "Buttercup" , "Good News" and "Down". AMP - [2009] Pharmako Dinâmica

Impressionante como o Queens Of The Stone Age está influenciando o rock nacional, não é mesmo? Junto com o Black Drawing Chalks e o Goldfish Memories, o AMP de Recife/PE é uma das melhores novidades do rock nacional na minha opinião e tem um pé (ou dois) no som que o Josh Homme faz lá nos EUA. Tirando "Billy" que eu acho meio desnecessária, o disco é uma saraivada de guitarras muito inspiradas. Um dos melhores do Brasil no ano! E pra variar, lançado pela Monstro Discos. Top 3: "Ensurdecedor" , "Acidez (Sinestesia)" e "Black Grass". Pra quem gosta de: Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Drawing Chalks, Goldfish Memories, MQN e Flaming Moe.

Lately, there are a bunch of bands influenced by QOTSA in Brazil and AMP is one of the best of these band. They are one of the greatest breakthrough of brazilian rock n roll, together with Black Drawing Chalks. You can hear Homme influence all over the place in this record, which is a good thing for me. One of the best brazilian records of the year 'till now. Top 3: "Ensurdecedor" , "Acidez (Sinestesia)" and "Black Grass". For those who likes: Queens Of The Stone Age, Black Drawing Chalks, Goldfish Memories, MQN and Flaming Moe.

Olha, se eu tivesse uma banda com um instrumental desses, eu não faria com vocal gritado, mas ta valendo. Stoner da Espanha. Eu nem sabia que tinha rock na Espanha, imagina stoner rock. Bem pesado e rapido. Nada de grandes coisas, mas vale uma checada. Top 3: "Queens", "Poison" e "Nada Que Perder". If I had such cohesive band like this one, I didn't put screamin vocals like this band did. I will prefer a more singing vocalist. Anyway, they are good in what they want to do. Nazz - [1968] Nazz

Eu tava ouvindo Cherry Choke esses dias e tentando lembrar com quem eles se parecem. Lembrei! É com esse Nazz aqui. O tal do Todd Rundgren que era o guitarrista e tals. A banda americana mais inglesa dos anos 60, por acaso. O solo de "Back Of Your Mind" é absurdamente parecido com os do Clapton na época do Cream. Clássico lado b. I was listening to Cherry Choke last week and trying to find who they remind me. Well, I think is Todd Rundgren's Nazz. The most british-like american band of the 60's for sure. A capa é rosa e a letra da primeira música é muito brega, mas o som é de macho! Clássico dos clássicos do doom. Sempre achei estranho um guitarrista excelente como o Wino só cantar no Saint Vitus. Skin Yard - [1991] 1000 Smiling Knuckles

Jack Endino, o padrinho dos grunges, toca guitarra nesse disco. Engraçado é que as bandas que ele produziu fizeram mais sucesso do que o próprio trabalho. O som é tipo uma mistura do que o Soundgarden fazia nos anos 80 com o que o Monster Magnet fez no começo dos 90. A propósito, Ben McMillan, vocalista da banda que depois montou o Gruntruck, faleceu no ano passado. Pena, era um ótimo vocalista. Top 3: "Words On Bone", "Living Pool" e "Psychoriflepowerhypnotized". Pra quem gosta de: Soundgarden, Monster Magnet, Screaming Trees, Gruntruck e Mudhoney.

Jack Endino, the godfather of grunge, plays guitar in this great band called Skin Yard. Funny that his production dutties are more sucessful than his work with Skin Yard. But Skin Yard was great, like somethin between Ultramega OK-era Soundgarden and Monster Magnet. Unfortunately, Ben McMillan died of diabetes in 2008. Blues Creation - [1971] Demon & Eleven Children

Entre as milhares bandas de blues rock dos anos 70, essa japonesa é uma das que me chamam mais a atenção. Muito melhor do que grande parte das americanas ou inglesas como Savoy Brown, Foghat, Chicken Shack e outras. Pelo menos, mais original. Top 3: "Atomic Bombs Away", "Mississippi Moutain Blues" e "Sooner Or Later". Pra quem gosta de: Savoy Brown, Foghat, Chicken Shack, Ten Years After e Flower Travelin' Band.

Way better than a lot of american and british acts like Savoy Brown, Foghat and stuff like that, I think. At least, more original. I worth a listen. O disco todo é bom, mas "Seer" é uma música especial, além da média. É um Black Keys envenenado, soando como Black Sabbath vocalizado pelo Robert Plant. Ou coisa assim, eheheh. Ah, tem J Mascis imitando Bonham e Ward na bateria no disco todo. Doom clássico esse aqui, mas com mais dinâmicas. Recomendadissisisisisisimo. Top 3: "Seer", "Soul Of Fire" e "Rip Van Winkle". Pra quem gosta de: Wolfmother, Witchcraft, Saint Vitus, Black Pyramid e Black Moutain.

Everything in this album is good, but "Seer" is a song way above the average. Like Black Keys playing Black Sabbath with Robert Plant in vocals. Cool huh? Bom, só conheço esse disco dessa banda americana que pra mim soa como uma mistura meio doida de Megadeth, Nirvana, NIN, Van Halen, Rock Inglês, Helmet, Faith No More e Black Flag (!!!) Cada hora parece uma coisa diferente pra mim então sei lá né. "Postcoital Glow" tem uma guitarrinha meio Dave Mustaine, sei lá. Mas que é bom é bom, então, ouçam bem alto! Top 3: "Cold Water", "Postcoital Glow" e "Happy Snakes". Pra quem gosta de: Nirvana, Faith No More, Helmet, Black Flag e NIN.

Walverdes - [2003] Anticontrole

A melhor banda que já apareceu no Rio Grande do Sul (Engenheiros? Cachorro? blé!) me chamou a atenção pela primeira vez quando eu estava lendo a falecida e falida Revista Zero. O engraçado é que eu gostei tanto da resenha que fiquei meio preocupado se o disco era tão bom assim. Anos depois, eu resolvi ouvir o tal disco. E num é que é porreta de bom? Uma guitarrada atrás da outra sem muito tempo pra respirar. Um disco e uma banda tão boa como essa me faz pensar por que a Pitty toca nas rádios e eles não? Enfim, pra espantar a crise e a gripe! Sai zica! Top 3: "Anticontrole", "Regras" e "Eu Vou Vivendo". Pra quem gosta de: MQN, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Queens Of The Stone Age e AMP.

The best band from the south of the greatest country in the world (:P) grabs my attention a few years ago in a review made by Zero Magazine, which doesn't exists anymore. The review was very enthusiatic and made me really curious about them. Years later, I finally got this album in my collection and, man, is just great. Guitars are all over in this record. Check this one if you want something very loud in portuguese. Anyway, Fuck the Crisis and the Flu! Top 3: "Anticontrole", "Regras" and "Eu Vou Vivendo". For those who likes: MQN, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Queens Of The Stone Age and AMP.

Beaver - [1999] Lodge

Nem só de Leite Moça vive a Holanda hein?! Beaver é de lá, mas já acabou infelizmente. Enfim, o que eu acho que difere um Solarized (meia boca) pra um Monster Magnet (ótimo!!!) e um sHEAVY (meia boca também) pra um Clutch (ótima!!!) na maioria das vezes é o vocal. E o Beaver é mais ou menos por aí. O instrumental, apesar de ótimo, não é a coisa mais original do mundo, mas eu acho o vocal do Roel Schoenmakers um diferencial que vale a pena dar uma atenção mais especial pra banda. Som pesado e pra frentex! Top 3: "Static", "Tarmac" e "Interstate". Pra quem gosta de: Kyuss, Soundgarden, Dozer, Black Sabbath e Tummler.

Dutch band Beaver unfortunately end somewhere in the 2000's but, why not to remember then? Singer Roel Schoenmakers is the differencial between Beaver and most of the stoner rock bands around. What a talented vocalist! Lodge is my favorite Beaver's album and one of the best in the genre. Top 3: "Static", "Tarmac" and "Interstate". For those who likes: Kyuss, Soundgarden, Dozer, Black Sabbath and Tummler.

Clutch - [2009] Strange Cousins From The West

Cada vez mais blues, o Clutch lançou seu novo albúm agora em Julho, seguindo a sonoridade dos ultimos discos. A principal diferença é a ausência dos teclados, o que não chega a ser problema quando se tem um guitarrista como Tim Sult. A voz do Neil Fallon continua ótima assim como as composições, que lembram uma espécie de Gov't Mule, só que sem os solos intermináveis (e as vezes, chatos) e com um jeitão mais agressivo. Já tá na lista dos 10 melhores do ano. Da-lhe Clutch! Top 3: "Motherless Child", "Struck Down" e "Freakonomics". Pra quem gosta de: Gov't Mule, Five Horse Johnson, The Brought Low, Alabama Thunderpussy e Corrosion Of Conformity.

More bluesy than ever, Clutch released their new record last July. The mainly difference between this album and their previous releases is the absent of keyboards in the whole record, which isn't a bad thing when you have a guitar player like Tim Sult to fill all the spaces. Neil Fallon's voice is great as ever. The songs are great to, sounding something like Gov't Mule, but without those long jams/solos (which are kind of boring, sometimes) and more agressive. One of the best albums of the year, for sure. Top 3: "Motherless Child", "Struck Down" and "Freakonomics". For those who likes: Gov't Mule, Five Horse Johnson, The Brought Low, Alabama Thunderpussy and Corrosion Of Conformity.

De todos os bluesmen existentes, Howlin' Wolf é um dos meus preferidos, junto com o Robert Johnson. Sempre achei ele o mais selvagem, acho que por causa da voz rasgada. Esse disco é clássico e todos que gostam de rock, blues ou qualquer outra coisa, deviam dar uma conferida. Top 3: "The Red Rooster", "You'll Be Mine" e "Little Baby". Pra quem gosta de: Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Freddie King, Albert King e Johnny Winter.

Slo Burn - [1996] Amusing The Amazing

Mais um trabalho do Sr. Garcia. Slo Burn foi a primeira banda pós-Kyuss do vocalista mas só durou um ep, este "Amusing The Amazing". Ainda tinha muito de Kyuss no som, mas já começava a mostrar um som mais direto similar ao do Unida e do Hermano. Enfim, outro ótimo disco de John Garcia, como de costume. Top 3: "The Prizefighter", "Pilot The Dune" e "Positiva". Pra quem gosta de: Kyuss, Hermano, Unida, Monster Magnet e Truckfighters.

Another good work by Mr. Garcia, Slo Burn was his first band after Kyuss but they only released this EP. It's has a lot o Kyuss in their sounding, but Garcia starts to approach a more straight ahead sound like he did with Unida and Hermano. Anyway, another awesome job by John Garcia, as usual. Top 3: "The Prizefighter", "Pilot The Dune" and "Positiva". For those who likes: Kyuss, Hermano, Unida, Monster Magnet and Truckfighters.

Monster Magnet - [1998] Powertrip

Bom, num tem muito o que dizer desse disco. Do começo ao fim ele ótimo. Talvez o clássico do Monster Magnet. Só "Space Lord" e "Bummer" já valem o disco todo. Top 3: "Space Lord", "Bummer" e "See You In Hell". Pra quem gosta de: Nebula, Atomic Bitchwax, Mudhoney, Unida e Hermano.
