Greenleaf - [2000] Greenleaf

Meu primeiro contato com o Greenleaf foi no blog Supertrama (recomendo!) a algum tempo atrás. Gostei de cara. A banda é All-Star Team do stoner rock sueco, tem gente do Dozer, do Demon Cleaner, Lowrider e, nos ultimos lançamentos, do Truckfighters também. Nesse aqui os vocais são dividos entre o ótimo Fredrik Nordin do Dozer e o Peder Bergstrand do Lowrider. Curtinho, tem um som bem calcado no rock dos anos 70, mais ou menos um Deep Purple sem teclados e mais pesado, ou coisa do tipo. "Sold My Lady" é fantastica e a faixa em sueco mostra o jeitão descompromissado do disquinho. Vale muito a ouvida. Pra quem gosta de: Dozer, Lowrider, Demon Cleaner, Truckfighters e The Atomic Bitchwax.

Dozer & Brain Police - [2008] Tour Split

Quanto mais eu ouço Dozer, mais eu gosto. Gosto de tudo deles, especialmente do Call It Conspiracy e do Through The Eyes Of The Heathens. O Brain Police é da Islandia (brrrrr...) e também é bem legal, lembrando mais um QOTSA mesmo. Coed Fever já é uma favorita minha e os timbres e backing vocals fazem lembrar a turma do Homme na hora. Dubão esse aqui. Pra quem gosta de: Truckfighters, Kyuss, Demon Cleaner, Beaver e Tummler.

The more i listen to Dozer, the more i like it. Love all their albums, specially Call It Conspiracy and Through The Eyes of The Heathens. And Brain Police is a good band too, sometimes sounding more like QOTSA, specially in Coed Fever with all those backing vocals. Well, enjoy fellas. For those who likes: Truckfighters, Kyuss, Demon Cleaner, Beaver and Tummler.

Gosto do Dozer por que, na maior parte do tempo, soa como uma mistura do Soundgarden com o Kyuss. Discão esse aqui. Top 3: "The Hills Have Eyes", "Rising" e "Man Made Moutain". Pra quem gosta de: Soundgarden, Kyuss, Truckfighters, Demon Cleaner e Hermano.

The Hydromatics - [1999] Parts Unknown

Sei lá como isso vei parar na minha mão, só sei que é muito, muito bom. É tipo Hellacopters, mas mais legal. Por acaso, tem o Nick Royale na bateria e produção, mas a graça mesmo é o Scott Morgan nos vocais/guitarra. O cara é fera mesmo. Eu ouço muita gente falar de Stooges, MC5, Sonic Rendezevous Band mas eu num acho tudo isso não. Mas esse Morgan, que foi da Rendezevous é fodão mesmo. A versão de "Baby Won't Ya" do MC5 é fodona, mas não tão legal quanto a original. Muito divertido, vale conferir. Top 3: "Earthy", "No Justice (In Rock 'N' Roll) e "Baby Won't Ya". Pra quem gosta de: The Hellacopters, Sonic Rendezevous Band, MC5, Thunder Express e Nitwitz.

Don't know how this came into my hands, but it's good. Very, very good. Like Hellacopters, but maybe even better. Well, Nick Royale play drums and do the production duties in this one, but the main thing, what really shines in this record is guitar/vocal Scott Morgan. He's a pro, definitely. I'm not a huge fan of MC5, Stooges and Sonic Rendezevous sound, but this album is flawless. The cover of MC5's "Baby Won't Ya" is great, almost like the original. Great record, good to listen at anytime. Top 3: "Earthy", "No Justice (In Rock 'N' Roll) and "Baby Won't Ya". Pra quem gosta de: The Hellacopters, Sonic Rendezevous Band, MC5, Thunder Express and Nitwitz.

The Diamond Dogs - [2008] It's Most Likely

Sei que eles tem uma discografia extensa, mas esse é o unico que conheço. E é muito bom! Sou meio contra bandas retrô, mas tem umas que fazem a coisa tão bem feita que o som acaba ficando atual. Esse Diamond Dogs é tipo um Faces com Black Crowes e tals. Claro que o vocal num é um Chris Robinson nem um Rod Stewart, mas ainda assim é fodão. O disco é mais baladeiro do que rockeiro e eu senti falta de uma guitarra mais na cara, mas o legal é que na primeira audição, você se pega cantando as musicas já. Muito bom mesmo. Top 3: "Roll This Motor Home" , "Wilko Johnson's Eye" e "One Of Those Tears". Pra quem gosta de: The Black Crowes, The Faces, Izzy Stradlin, Thunder Express e The Rolling Stones.

They've recorded a lot of records through the 90's and 2000's but this one is the only one that I know. And it's great! I'm not a fan of retro bands, but they know how to do the sound in a way that makes it fresh. There isn't a lot of guitars in this album, but the melodies are good a nd the vocals really shines over the whole record. Not a Chris Robinson or a Rod Stewart, but it still very good. Listen and start to singalong instantly. Top 3: "Roll This Motor Home" , "Wilko Johnson's Eye" and "One Of Those Tears". For those who likes: The Black Crowes, The Faces, Izzy Stradlin, Thunder Express and The Rolling Stones.

Nebula & Lowrider - [1999] Split

O Nebula acho que todo mundo já conhece e o que eles apresentam aqui é o som comum deles. Guitarras e mais guitarras. Ótimo como sempre. O Lowrider que pra mim é a novidade (e pode ser pra muitos de vocês também). Que banda!! Assim, o som é bem chupinhado do Kyuss, mas isso é uma coisa boa não é? E as vezes, tem coisas que me lembram o Soundgarden. Enfim, essa banda sueca lançou esse EP com o Nebula e mais disco e fechou as portas. Mas um dos integrantes tá no Greenleaf, que é uma espécie de All-Star Team do Stoner Rock sueco. Tem gente do Dozer, do Truckfighters e do Lowrider aqui. EP de alta qualidade esse aqui. Pra quem gosta de: Dozer, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Beaver e Solarized.

Well, everybody knows how Nebula is good so the real deal here is swedish band Lowrider. They are some kind of Kyuss sons, but this is a good thing. Unfortunately, they disband after the release of "Ode To Io", their another and only register after this EP. I know that Greenleaf has one of Lowrider members but I don't which one. Great EP, Great Split. For those who likes Dozer, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Beaver and Solarized.

Dozer - [2005] Through The Eyes Of Heathens

Essa banda é lá da Suécia e apesar do som stoner, eu acho que eles tem um "quêzinho" de Soundgarden. "Drawing Dead" seria uma música do Audioslave fácil, fácil. Dozer é uma das minhas descobertas mais legais desses ultimos tempos. Tem desde um som mais direto até aquelas viagens meio Monster Magnet. Um dos meus preferidos do genêro. Apesar da capa, eles são muito machos, hehehe. Top 3; "Drawing Dead" , "From Fire Hell" e "Man Of Fire". Pra quem gosta de: Soundgarden, Unida, Beaver, Kyuss e Monster Magnet.

This sweden stoner band had something in common with Soundgarden, I think. Like, "Drawing Dead" sounds like Audioslave or something like that. Dozer is one of my favorite discovers of the year. The Hellacopters - [2008] Head Off

Disco de despedida da banda mais legal que já apareceu na Suécia. Só covers de bandas que segundo os Hellas, deviam estar nas paradas pelo mundo afora (New Bomb Turks, BellRays, The Robots, etc.). Num chega a ser tão bom quanto os discos do auge, mas é uma boa despedida. Top 3: "Electrocute" , "(I'm) Watching You" , "Straight Until Morning". Pra quem gosta de: Danko Jones, Backyard Babies, Datsuns, BellRays e Forgotten Boys.

Unida / Dozer - [1999] The Best Of Wayne-Gro / Coming Down The Moutain

Lançado em 1999, esse split é dividido entre o Unida, banda que John Garcia (Ex-Kyuss) formou após acabar precocemente com o Slo-Burn, e pelo Dozer, banda vinda lá da Suécia. O som é legal, mas o Unida deixa um pouco a desejar se comparado com o Kyuss ou o Slo-Burn. O Dozer também num mostra nada além de um stoner rock um pouco óbvio até. Mas é discografia básica para os amantes do genero. Top Unida: "Flower Girl". Top Dozer: "Headed For The Sun". Pra quem gosta de: Kyuss, Slo-Burn, Nebula, Fu Manchu e Beaver.

Release in 1999, this split is shared between Unida, band of John Garcia (Ex-Kyuss and Slo-Burn) and Dozer, band from Sweeden. The songs are ok, but in the case of Unida, is a little disapointing if you compare these songs with work of John Garcia in his previous bands. Dozer sound ok too, but a little obvious. But it`s still a classic of the genre. "Flower Girl". Top Dozer: "Headed For The Sun". For those who likes: Kyuss, Slo-Burn, Nebula, Fu Manchu and Beaver.
