Danko Jones - [2008] Never Too Loud

Impressão minha ou o baterista do Danko Jones tá tocando demais nesse disco? Zezuis! Her All I Can" do Kiss??? Top 3: "Code Of The Road", "Still In High School" , "Forest For The Trees". Pra quem gosta de: AC/DC, Forgotten Boys, Unida, Thin Lizzy, The Datsuns.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, am I crazy or Danko Jones' drummer is playing more than ever in this album? Holy Jesus! Not that is thaaat something, but, I don't know, but everything that is just simple he plays in a very cool way. And Danko is singing better than ever! And check the riff of "City Streets". It doesn't reminds you the main riff of "Love Her All I Can" from Kiss??? And one more thing, John Garcia blessed this album singing in Forest For The Trees (that has another guest, Goatsnake vocal, which I don't remember the name :P). Well, you know, Danko never fails.Top 3: "Code Of The Road", "Still In High School" , "Forest For The Trees". For those who likes: AC/DC, Forgotten Boys, Unida, Thin Lizzy, The Datsuns.

Soundgarden - [1995] Songs From The Superunknown EP

= ( . Top Top: "Like Suicide (Acoustic)". Pra quem gosta de: Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Monster Magnet e Smashing Pumpkins.
----------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #1: One of the three best bands that walked on earth. Forget about Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden is much better. Never since the Beatles, the members of a band match so well. Kim Thayil is a god, and Chris Cornell (R.I.P. :P) was a god too. She Likes Surprises , that was a bonus track on Superunknown, is better than anything that any other band did in 90's. And it's just a B-Side! Unfortunately, everything that is good, doesn't last forever. This band is what I miss more from the 90's. =( . Top Top: "Like Suicide (Acoustic)". For those who likes: Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Monster Magnet and Smashing Pumpkins.

Alice In Chains - [1989] We Die Young EP

Top Top: "It Ain't Like That". Pra quem gosta de: The Cult, Soundgarden, Black Label Society, Screaming Trees e Danzig.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #2: Alice In Chains has one of the best partners in writin songs of the history. Layne and Jerry match perfectly one to another. In this release, their are still searching for they sound, what we can see on the last track "Killing Yourself", which have a hard-rock approach. Great start for a great band! Top Top: "It Ain't Like That".For those who likes: The Cult, Soundgarden, Black Label Society, Screaming Trees and Danzig.

Screaming Trees - [1989] Change Has Come EP

Top Top: "Change Has Come". Para aqueles que curtem: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Dinossaur Jr., Soundgarden, Kyuss.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #3: Screaming Trees is the most underrated band ever! Or somegthing like that. This release is the only one for Sub-Pop. It was before they signed with Epic. Not as good as they material in 90's, but very cool one. Top Top: "Change Has Come". For those who likes: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Dinossaur Jr., Soundgarden, Kyuss.

Mudhoney - [1988] Superfuzz Bigmuff

Dessas que estão no EP, eles tocaram a clássica "In 'N' Out Of Grace". Que show! Top Top: "In 'N' Out Of Grace". Pra quem gosta de: Nirvana, Stooges, MC5, Thee Hypnotics e Melvins.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #4: It was Mudhoney who puts Seattle in world rock scene, period. And in 1998 they still were a great band. I saw them in 2006 opening for Pearl Jam in São Paulo and, to be honest, Pearl Jam who should open for Mudhoney. They are way better than PJ live. One of the best concerts that i ever saw! Top Top: "In 'N' Out Of Grace". For those who likes: Nirvana, Stooges, MC5, Thee Hypnotics and Melvins.

Pearl Jam - [1995] Merkinball

Top Top: "I Got Id". Pra quem gosta de: Neil Young, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots e Dinossaur Jr.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #5: The coolest thing in this single is Neil Young's participation in I Got Id, where he plays guitar. This partnership starts with the just average "Mirrorball" . But here, finally, the partners really shines. Good old times when Eddie Vedder was cool and not a Bono Vox wannabe. Top Top: "I Got Id". For those who likes: Neil Young, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots e Dinossaur Jr.

Nirvana - [1989] Blew EP

Top Top: "Blew". Para aqueles que gostam de: Melvins, Mudhoney, Tad, Screaming Trees e Hole.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #6: This EP is one of the bests releases from Nirvana. Really a good one. Here, the band wasn't that enourmous thing that they become later. Looking back, Kurt is still a miss. Top Top: "Blew". For those who likes: Melvins, Mudhoney, Tad, Screaming Trees and Hole.

Mother Love Bone - [1989] Shine EP

Pena. Top Top: "Thru Fade Away". Pra quem gosta de: Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses e Skid Row.
------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #7: I read or hear often people saying that if Andrew Wood doesn't die in 1990, Mother Love Bone will be what Nirvana was for the 90's. Well, for me this is an exaggeration, but it's ok. MLB plays a sound a litte bit diferent than the other Seattle bands, more focused in classic hard rock. They disband after Andrew Wood found dead in his room, before they breakthrough to the mainstream charts. Top Top: "Thru Fade Away". For those who likes: Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses and Skid Row.

Melvins - [1992] King Buzzo EP

Top Top: "Skeeter". Pra quem gosta de: Nirvana, Fantômas, Tad, Mudhoney e L7.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #8: This EP is not the best way to know Melvins sound. In fact, this record is a solo one of Buzz Osbourne. At the time, the band decides to each member release a solo record. Here we find the result of the "big boss" work. The last track is a speech by Dave Ghrol (who plays drums in these EP) with the band playing. Top Top: "Skeeter". For those who likes: Nirvana, Fantômas, Tad, Mudhoney and L7.

Green River - [1985] Come On Down

Top Top: "Swallow My Pride". Para aqueles que gostam de: Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Black Flag, Tad e Nirvana.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Seattle Sound #9: Green River was the first band that really matters in Seattle scene. After disband, some members formed Mudhoney, some other formed Mother Love Bone. But here is easy to see that Mark Arm was the boss and directioned all the songs. Very interesting to know how everything begins. Top Top: "Swallow My Pride". Tad - [1990] Salt Lick EP

Top Top: "High On The Hog". Pra quem gosta de: Nirvana, Melvins, Mudhoney, Dinossaur Jr. e L7.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seatlle Sound #10: Tad is one of that classic cases of a band with good instrumental and annoying vocals. Tad Doyle is not the best singer in the world and everybody knows it. Maybe with a better singer, the band could have challenging the other Seattle bands at the time. But, whatever, the music is good and that's the main thing here. Top Top: "High On The Hog". For those who likes: Nirvana, Melvins, Mudhoney, Dinossaur Jr. e L7.

Neil Young - [1973] Time Fades Away

Top 3: "Time Fades Away", "Don't Be Denied", "Last Dance". Pra quem gosta de: Bob Dylan, Big Star, Creedence Cleartwater Revival, Joni Mitchell e Van Morrison.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the only record in Neil Young's catalog that still doesn't released as a CD. So, if you have this lp in your home in some vault under your stairs, keep it there! It must value a lot of money now. Whatever, Neil Young record this album in his american tour in 73. He play all these inedit material and put together in this album. In other words, it's a live album with only new material. And everybody knows that Neil is better live. Classic!Top 3: "Time Fades Away", "Don't Be Denied", "Last Dance". Monster Magnet - [1992] Spine Of God

Talvez devido a presença do próprio McBain. Clássico do Stoner Rock! Top 3: "Medicine" , "Spine Of God", "Snake Dance". Pra quem gosta de: Hawkwind, Kyuss, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains e Soundgarden.
------------------------------------------------------------
First Magnet's album, still with John McBain (Hater, Wellwater Conspiracy, Desert Sessions) on guitar. Much more spacy and psychedelic thant their second record, Superjudge. Maybe the reason for this is the presence of McBain itself. Is hard to highlith a song in such good album, but the title-track is a good choice. Spine of God have something similar with The End from The Doors, but in a heavier way. A Stoner Rock Classic! Top 3: "Medicine" , "Spine Of God", "Snake Dance". For those who likes: Hawkwind, Kyuss, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains e Soundgarden.

James Gang - [1971] Thirds

Top 3: "Walk Away", "Midnight Man", "White Man, Black Man". Para aqueles que gostam de: Grand Funk Railroad, Status Quo, The Who, Eagles e Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another overrated band in my opinion. "Rides Again", their second record is very good and enjoyable, but this "Thirds" is nothing more than ok. They were just a good band, nothing exceptional. "Walk Away" is the only moment that really shines on this album. And some people still call them a "classic band". Pfff... Top 3: "Walk Away", "Midnight Man", "White Man, Black Man". For those who likes: Grand Funk Railroad, Status Quo, The Who, Eagles e Bachman-Turner Overdrive.

Grand Funk Railroad - [1970] Closer To Home

Em compensação, "Sin's A Good Man's Brother" é muito boa, assim como "Mean Mistreater" e "Nothing Is The Same". Fora que essas letrinhas de paz e amor são um saco, esse papo todo de "brothers and sisters, isso e aquilo, i love the human race" ... baaah. Disco bonzinho no máximo. Top 3: "Sin's A Good Man's Brother" , "Nothing Is The Same" , "Mean Mistreater". Pra quem gosta de: Cactus, Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, James Gang e Mountain.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
People who lived in 70's insists that Grand Funk Railroad is a great band. C'mon, they are nothing more than a good band, nothing really fantastic. Ok, "Red Album" is a very good album, but this "Closer To Home" is not that thing. For example, "Get It Together" and "Hooked On Love" have the worst backing vocals that i've heard in my whole life! Christ, those women singing is terrible. But being fair, "Sin's A Good Man's Brother" is a great track, with a catchy riff. The same happens to "Mean Mistreater" and "Nothing Is The Same". Well, is a good album for sure, but not a classic. Just a good album. The annoying thing is hear people calling GFR as a heavy band. They never listened to Black Sabbath? Top 3: "Sin's A Good Man's Brother" , "Nothing Is The Same" , "Mean Mistreater". For those who likes: Cactus, Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, James Gang and Mountain.

Eagles - [1973] Desperado

Tirando "Out Of Control", todas as outras músicas são bem aquém do esperado. Top 3: "Out Of Control", "Tequilla Sunrise", "Desperado". Pra quem gosta de: James Gang, The Byrds, Lisa Ronstadt, James Taylor e Flying Burrito Brothers.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Without a doubt, Eagles is the biggest farce of rock n' roll! I'm always giving them a chance, but in the end, they back to my list of boring bands (U2, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, P.J. Harvey...). Except "Out Of Control", all the songs are very disappointed. Just don't know why people think about this album as a classic. Top 3: "Out Of Control", "Tequilla Sunrise", "Desperado".
